Cristo Viene Girls Home
Who are we?
Cristo Viene Girls home was started in 2002. It is run by Elizabeth Vias. There are 30 girls in this small home. Elizabeth has dedicated her time to see the girls come to know Jesus Christ. She is also teaching them the responsibilities of a home. They are learning different hand crafts and how to cookñskills they will use both now and in the future.
Many of these girls come from homes where they were mistreated, abandoned, or left to fend for themselves. They were taken out of their homes by social services and were brought to Cristo Viene Girls. Because of coming to this home, many have had the chance to hear the Gospel and have come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. God is forming them to His image day by day, but it is a struggle for them with no family to encourage them.
Projects
- Buying land and building a new home for the girl's so they don't have to depend on the government. The building in which they are housed is owned by the government, and they live under the constant possibility that it may be re-taken by the government without much warning. Also, the home is a tight fit for the 30 girls that live their. They would love to have a place outside of the cityñsomething with more space that would allow them to raise animals and grow vegetables.
- Bagel project — The girls are learning to make bagels to sell to the local market. It is a product that is not common here.
- Crafts and sewing — The home is trying to teach the girls a skill that they can use when they leave the home and also to help them now.
- Cakes — Many of the girls love to make cakes to sell.
Prayer requests
- That the girls can get along and grow in their relationships with Christ.
- That they apply themselves to their studies and realize how important they are.
